Athene's Acropolis rigeneration

Master's Thesis

The Master’s thesis project on the revitalization of the Acropolis of Athens is centered around the theme of continuous dialogue between ancient and modern architecture, encapsulated in the Greek word symphōnía (συμφωνία). While commonly used to denote "musical harmony," symphōnía here symbolizes the harmony between different eras and the seamless fusion of ancient and modern elements. The project includes the creation of a new underground museum, carefully integrated with the ongoing restoration work on the Parthenon. Additionally, the project features a new coordinated visual identity, designed to unify the presentation of the Acropolis, blending traditional and contemporary aesthetics.

A key aspect of the project is a temporary exhibition within the Parthenon itself, which seeks to create a unique, immersive experience that highlights the ongoing dialogue between the ancient structure and modern interventions. This exhibition, along with the other elements of the project, aims to respect and enhance the historical significance of the Acropolis while creating a symphonic relationship between the old and the new. The design reflects a deep appreciation for the historical context, ensuring that the new elements do not overshadow the ancient structures but instead contribute to a harmonious and meaningful connection across time.
